Dan Williamson joined the Eyewitness News Team as Sports Director/Anchor in June of 2012.
Dan has worked at a number of television stations in the Midwest, including in his hometown of Alexandria as he began his broadcast career as Sports and News Anchor at KSAX-TV. He later became the Sports Director/Anchor at KXMB-TV in Bismarck, ND. Recently, he served as a reporter/photographer/producer for Lifetouch Media Productions in the Twin Cities for the syndicated program "Life to the Max."
Dan says he's delighted about the challenges of his new role. "I'm extremely excited about this opportunity," he says. "Sports anchoring and reporting is something I've dreamed about since I was a kid. I'm eager to tell the stories of the people and the sports in the Northland."
Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication/Broadcast Journalism from St. Cloud State University, where he was honored as the Outstanding Graduate of the Year in Mass Communications.
He has also been honored with awards for Best Sportscast and Best Sports Story from the North Dakota Associated Press and for Best Sports Feature Story from the Northwest Broadcast News Association.
In his spare time, Dan is an avid sport enthusiast. He enjoys golf, baseball and softball, inline skating and outdoor & water sports. He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling and going to the movies. He is no stranger to the Northland, having run in Grandma's Marathon while in college.
