Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra Begins New Season

Classical music fans, listen up! The new Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra 2012-13 season is underway.

Executive director of the DSSO, Rebecca Petersen, stopped by Good Morning Northland Monday to talk about the upcoming performances and their opening show.

This season, all performances feature the music from different films. The DSSO's first performance took place on Saturday. Petersen said it featured a conductor from the Chicago Symphony.

Not only do the performances feature music from the Hollywood, but Petersen said that the DSSO will be screening entire movies during some concerts. The first is on Nov. 3 and features the Alfred Hitchcock classic, "Psycho."

Petersen also mentioned the DSSO New Year's Eve concert. This year, a 25 foot stringed instrument will be featured. It was also seen on "America's Got Talent," Petersen said.
