Fans of pasta, sauces and all things Italian will want to check out this event held by the St. Louis County Historical Society and the Duluth Italian American Club.
The Culture & Cuisine Event takes place on October 11 in the Great Hall at The Depot in Duluth. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. Dinner starts at 6:30, and the program begins at 7:15.
The catering company for the event is Rich Cuisine of Duluth. They stopped by Good Morning Northland Tuesday to talk about the event and make some the classic Italian dish, gnocchi.
Culture & Cuisine features a five course meal, wine tasting, Italian singers, a silent auction and a chance to learn more about Italian culture and history.

Rich Cuisine also provided a recipe so you can make gnocchi at home.
- 2 cups dry instant potatoes (will yield about 2.5 cups finished mashed potatoes
- 2 1/2 cups hot water or milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix above together to reconstitute potatoes.
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan or Romano Cheese
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup oil
- 2 eggs
Combine all ingredients together with fork to make a ball. Knead ball until well mixed. If dough is sticky, add more flour. Let rest and roll out.
