Grand rapids has seen a lot of changes the past few seasons. Loss of rivalry games, new conferences, but head coach Tim Botsford thinks his team has handled the adversity well.

"They stay focused, they work hard, they want that W. They are just a coachable bunch of kids and that's what this is all about," says Botsford.

But the struggles can be frustrating. Six weeks in, the Thunderhawks are still looking for win number one.

"It doesn't look like we're doing that well, but we're doing our best and we're playing some good teams, so we're getting better," says senior OG/DE Cody Hall.

Competing in the Central Lakes Conference, Rapids is facing schools with bigger players and more of them. But, senior RB/LB Jamison Evans says it's been educational.

"Playing different teams helps in a way because we're always on our toes for everything, playing different sized teams every year," says Evans.

To finish the regular season strong, the Thunderhawks have two items on their checklist: minimize mistakes and find consistency.
