We all experience the pains and joys of growing up. And the new musical "Do Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?" follows the journey of 12 kids from second grade to senior prom.
Two actors from the production stopped by Good Morning Northland Wednesday. Emilie LaBonte plays Sister Lee and Jayson Speters plays Father O'Reilly.
One interesting aspect of the play is that the actors play both second graders and high schoolers. Speters said that it was a trick for them to change their voices and physicality. It took a lot of work.
"Do Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?" opens Thursday at the Marshall Performing Arts Center at UMD starting at 7:30 p.m. Performances run from Oct. 11 to 13 and Oct. 18 to 20. There is also a matinee on Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.
