The University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS) opens its season November 8 with a classic comedy.
University Theatre presents William Shakespeare's comedy "Much Ado About Nothing" at Manion Theater in the Holden Fine and Applied Arts Center at UWS. Performances run November 8, 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. with a 1 p.m. matinee November 18.
Director Cathy Fank uses the commedia dell'arte style to tell Shakespeare's classic comedy of two couples - one glibly scornful of love and the other hopelessly besotted - who are tricked on their way to the altar by deception, gossip and mistaken identity.
Meghan O'Toole-Gott, playing Beatrice, says this very physical style brings a slap-stick comedy approach to a classic work by Shakespeare.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and non-UW-Superior students, and $2 for UW-Superior students. Group rates may be available. Contact the University Box Office at 715-394-8380 for information.
