FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) - Fergus Falls has been chosen to host next year's Governor's Deer Opener.
Jean Bowman of the Fergus Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau says Governor Mark Dayton made that announcement at last weekend's Governor's Deer Opener in Winona.
The hunting opener will take place Nov. 7-9 of 2013. Bowman tells KBRF-AM Radio (http://bit.ly/r11BGJ) the convention and visitors bureau will be looking for volunteers to help with events.
While Dayton is a pheasant hunter - not a deer hunter - he's carrying on the Minnesota Governor's Deer Opener, a tradition started by his predecessor, Tim Pawlenty.
