UMD's Chancellor says an allegedly racist video is unacceptable in an email to the UMD community.

Chancellor Lendley Black sent an email to the UMD community on Thursday addressing a "video with unfortunate racist content."  The school would not reveal information about the content, the people involved, or where the video was posted. UMD says federal law prevents them telling Eyewitness News more.

However, in the email Black says,"We abhor it. This is unacceptable behavior for anyone, and we at UMD are extremely unhappy to be associated with it in anyway."

UMD officials say the video has since been taken down.

The email comes after two previous incidents concerning racial issues. One had to do with chants at a men's hockey game toward Native Americans.  The other was a series of Facebook posts about an African American student.
