As St. Louis County prepares to set the 2013 budget, residents get a chance to weigh in on proposed property tax increases.
In a meeting formerly known as the Truth in Taxation Hearing, county commissioners heard from residents on the proposed budget increase in the coming year. The proposal is to increase the budget by 1.5 percent, which Kevin Gray, the county administrator, has told Eyewitness News, would cost the average homeowner between $7 and $12 per year.
According to Commissioner Chris Dahlberg, residents at the meeting challenged the county to keep the budget from growing. "People were saying get hard and watch the budget. Everyone else is tightening their belts and you have to do the same."
Commissioners will set the 2013 budget on Tuesday.
