Champagne is the drink that nearly everyone has to celebrate the new year. It can also be served at many Christmas or holiday parties.
David Devere is a licensed wine expert, who teaches classes about wine and champagne in Duluth. He stopped by Good Morning Northland Tuesday to talk about finding a good sparkling wine and champagne for the holidays.
Devere recently just taught a class at Duluth's Chester Creek Cafe on finding champagne. He said there are different terms for the sweetness in champagnes in sparkling wines. From least sweet to the sweetest:
- san dosage
- extra brut
- extra dry
- sec demi
- sec doux
Brut is the one most people are familiar with, Devere said. But extra dry is actually sweeter than brut.
If you want to learn more about wine or champagne, Devere is offering an introductory class on wine at Chester Creek Cafe on January 24, 31 and Feb. 7. To reserve a spot, call (218) 724-6811. You can also learn more about wines and Devere at www.savvynomad.com
