Could Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Bob Nielson be leaving UMD?

He is one of three finalists for the head football coaching position at Western Illinois.

The Fighting Leathernecks are a Division I program. They announced on their web site that they have narrowed their search to three candidates: Nielson, Missouri S&T Head Coach David Brown, and former Western Michigan Head Coach Bill Cubit.

Nielson has won two national titles in ten seasons with the Bulldogs. Last season, he lead UMD to a 10-2 record and to the playoffs.
