People in the Northland celebrate once-in-a-lifetime milestones Wednesday on 12/12/12. It's a date that won't come around for another 100 years, and people were taking advantage of this unique day.
KC Podgorak delivered her baby boy Zayden at Essentia Health-Saint Mary's Medical Center Wednesday. Podgorak scheduled her caesarean section for the special date.
"It's pretty cool," Podgorak said. "An easy date to remember."
It's also an easy date for a future husband to remember. Jennifer and Daniel Luiten got married at the Saint Louis County Courthouse, and they did it in true Minnesota-fashion. They wore personalized, Minnesota Vikings jerseys with their last name and the number 12 printed in purple and gold.
"We went with 12/12/12 on the jerseys so Dan could marry his two favorite things," Jennifer said.
"The Vikings and her, in that order," Dan joked.
Another sports fan celebrated a milestone Wednesday; Chris Sundbom turned 36. It's a little bit of a stretch, but if you add up 12/12/12 you get 36.
"It's interesting," Sundbom said. "I wont see a date like this in my lifetime. Very neat. Very cool."
WDIO asked people on Facebook what they were celebrating Wednesday. Many people posted about birthdays and anniversaries, but others got a little more creative to make a connection. Some people posted about working a 12-hour work day or picking up a 12-pack of beer.
