A Duluth organization providing mentoring to youth is celebrating a milestone year.
Mentor Duluth and Duluth YMCA marked 75 years of mentoring youth with an event at Duluth's Lowell Elementary School, where leaders threw water balloons, trying to beat the record for the number of them broken on a person within a minute.
A crowd of kids watched the water balloons fly and while the record of more than two dozen balloons broken still stands after the event, the kids were, without a doubt, entertained.
Cassie Flynn, a Mentor Duluth program advocate, said it's "just a fun event to celebrate our 75th year--it's kicking off the year. We've got some other events planned for later in the year to celebrate our program."
The Mentor Duluth program serves youth in Duluth and surrounding communities by connecting them with positive adults who want to make a difference by building lasting relationships.
