Grizzly's Grill and Saloon in Superior is a popular spot for delicious dishes such as that oh-so juicy rotisserie chicken.  But this Saturday they're using those popular plates to help a good cause.

For the past four years the Superior Grizzly's has kicked off the Hunger Takes No Holiday fundraising event.  It's a major effort to help feed the 6,000 plus people who are food insecure in Douglas County.

Don Leighton spearheads the event and says it's an important effort, especially in Douglas County, where around 3,200 of those who are food insecure are children.  He says their main focus is on helping the youth and elderly, but everyone who needs a helping hand should get it.

"I'm becoming a senior and I used to be a kid. I really think that's the group of people that we're trying to help, but we will help anybody who needs food.  Because how can you exist without food?  That's an impossible task," Leighton said.

Last year the Hunger Takes No Holiday campaign raised $32,000 with a goal of $25,000. So, this year their aiming high with a goal of $40,000.

"It's going to keep going up every year, because unfortunately the need is increasing every year because of the economy," Leighton said.

On Saturday, Feb. 2, 15 percent of food sales will go to the Northern Lakes Food Bank.  Those proceeds can go a long way.  For every one dollar donation to the food bank they can source enough food for five meals.  That's ten dollars worth of food from just one buck.

Grizzly's General Manager Sarah Rehnstrand says the staff is more than happy to lend a hand.

"It's great.  It's something that really does benefit the community.  It's a very great cause," she said, "The money is going directly back to the people here that we know, and the neighbors that we're helping."

On top of the 15 percent of food sales donated, Grizzly's servers will be giving away 100 percent of their tips Saturday for Hunger Takes No Holiday.

"It's just phenomenal what these young people do, who need tips. That's a lot of money for them and they're going to donate it to us," Leighton said.

Hunger Takes No Holiday kicks off this Saturday at Grizzly's Grill and Saloon in Superior.  Now, events will be happening all year long, but the official kick of is this Saturday, Groundhog's Day.  So don't miss it!
