On the Iron Range, Kevin Michael Korte pleaded guilty on Monday, to ramming a state trooper's squad with his pick-up truck.

He was arrested in May, after refusing to stop for a state trooper.

The trooper followed him on a short chase. When cornered, Korte rammed his pick-up truck into the trooper's squad, disabling it.

The trooper used his duty weapon in an attempt to stop Korte, but none of the shots hit the suspect.

He pleaded guilty to first degree assault on a peace officer on Monday.

The state is recommending a sentence of about seven years.

Sentencing is next month.
