15-Year Sentence in Totem Pole Murder Case

nullThe Koochiching County man who pleaded guilty to murdering his wife has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

According to the prosecutor, the 15-year sentence for Carl Muggli is the maximum under the guidelines for this crime. The 51-year-old originally told authorities a totem pole fell on his wife, Linda Muggli in November of 2010.

In January, he pleaded guilty to a second degree unintentional murder charge.

The couple had been well-known totem pole carvers from the town of Ray.
