Willow River, Minn. - Wednesday is National Signing Day and across America, press conference's will happen at high schools and colleges. But Jake Disterhaupt wants to avoid that. Instead, the Moose Lake/Willow River football star plans to treat it like any other day...other than breaking away from class to sign a certain letter of intent.
The Mr. Football finalist has made a verbal commitment to North Dakota and makes it official on Wednesday. He played a variety of positions for the Rebels and was an offensive superstar, with over 2,000 total yards and 23 total touchdowns last season, leading the Rebels to a State Runner-up finish. However, at the next level, offense might not be his thing.
"I will probably end up playing safety there and kick return and punt return. They need a little help on their defensive backs, so I might see playing time right away and that had to do with my choice too. I like safety a lot, played it a little bit in practice and not really in games, but I really like how it felt back there," says Disterhaupt.
