Biwabik, Minn. - A big day for Nordic Skiers as Section 7 Titles were on the line at Giants Ridge.

The boys and girls from Duluth East were both looking for three-peats and the Greyhound girls were able to do just that, taking top honors with Ely in second place.

Meanwhile, in boys, Duluth East finished second behind Ely as the Timberwolves finished in first place.

Individually, in the 5K Classical, Amy Bianco from Ely crossed over first in girls and Jesse Olson from Ely did the same in boys.

"It was pretty soft because the boys went before us and the hills got chopped up and I am so proud of them and as a captain, I am proud to be part of this (Duluth) East team and I am graduating this year and it is a good year," says Duluth East senior Anna Kubek.

"They (Duluth East) were solid and after the first race, they were positioned very well to start the second race in the lead and that is what they did and they just held it for a solid day around the course and came in and won today, so that was great," says Duluth East Head Coach Bonnie Fuller-Kask.
