BALTIMORE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - State police say that sheriff's deputies shot and killed an armed western Michigan man who was involved in a dispute with his wife.
First Lt. Chuck Christensen tells Mlive.com (http://bit.ly/WR5aMr) that the man fired shots before authorities arrived but did not shoot at the deputies. He says that there were "overt actions" that required the deputies to act.
The shooting happened Saturday night in Barry County's Baltimore Township, about 35 miles southeast of Grand Rapids. Christensen says the man is 41 but didn't immediately release his name. He says the man had two firearms.
Christensen says there was a history of conflict between the couple.
