Hockey games don't get much more exciting than this.
First seeded Duluth East faced off against second seed Grand Rapids in the Section 7AA championship at Amsoil Arena on Thursday night.
The Greyhounds struck first, with a first period goal from Jack Kolar. In the second period, Phil Beaulieu made it a two goal game with a shot from the top of the circle.
The Thunderhawks answered back a few minutes later when Reid Holum scored from the slot. The Jack Forbort skated around the Grand Rapids zone before putting one past Hunter Shepard late in the period to make it 3-1 East.
In the third period, Grand Rapids came within a goal again after Jake Bischoff scored on a pass from brother Jonah. Alex Toscano scored on a breakaway a short time later to give East a 4-2 advantage. It turned out to be the game winner.
The win was Duluth East's sixteenth straight. They will represent Section 7 at the state tournament next week.
