A recent Minnesota Department of Health report said 290,000 Minnesotans have been diagnosed with diabetes. Even more startling, 80,000 might have the disease and might not know it.
Stacy Colich is a dietitian and a diabetes educator at St. Luke's Hospital. She stopped by Good Morning Northland Wednesday to talk about the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes. That happens on April 6 at the Miller Hill Mall to benefit the American Diabetes Association.
Colich said diabetes is at epidemic levels. And she said it is costing our country $245 billion a year to fight the disease.
