The U.S. Marshals Service is looking for two inmates who were discovered missing from the Duluth Federal Prison Camp on Saturday night.

"We have notified local, state and federal law enforcement agencies," David Baker, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, said. "They've been notified and they are continuing to work toward apprehending these two individuals."

Michael Krzyzaniak, 64, and Gerald Greenfield, 67, were discovered missing at about 10 p.m.  The Federal Bureau of Prisons said the U.S. Marshal Service and other law enforcement agencies were immediately notified.

The prison camp is on the former Duluth Air Force Base. U.S. Marshals Service spokesman Thomas Volk told the Star Tribune that prisoners there are "on the honor system" instead of having locked cells.

"We have very good checks and balances with the inmates that we allow to be able to be held at minimum level facilities," Baker said. "This is a very rare thing. It doesn't happen often."

Krzyzaniak is a 64-year-old white male with brown hair and hazel eyes.  He's 6' tall and weighs 200 pounds.  He's from Minneapolis and is serving a 12-year sentence for bilking investors out of nearly $26 million.

Greenfield, pictured on the left, is a 67-year-old white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He's 5'9" and weighs 150 pounds.  He's from Bloomington, Minn. and is serving a four-year sentence for conspiracy to commit money laundering in a $2.5 million mortgage fraud scheme.

Authorities ask anyone with information to call the U.S. Marshals Service at 218-720-3214 or local authorities at 911.

"This is a non-violent facility," Baker said. "These inmates are not considered dangerous, however, just make sure if (people) do have information, call local police and/or 9-1-1."
