The crew was gracious and welcoming, as the media and shipping leaders in the Twin Ports filled the Federal Hunter.
The saltie was the first to sail into the Twin Ports for the 2013 season, and set a record for being the earliest ever. She came in around 1am on Saturday, March 30th.
The captain said he was proud to be back in Duluth, and to have broken the record.
They received gifts from Visit Duluth, the Seafarers Ministry, the Port Authority, and the city of Superior.
The Federal Hunter will be bringing grain to Europe. She's expected to finish loading at CHS in Superior Monday night, and then depart for Canada.
Most of her crew is from India. The Hunter flies under the Hong-Kong flag.
Industry leaders pointed out that the vessel has had new technology installed, to make it more efficient.
