Cloquet, Minn. - After a 4-1 vote last night at a School Board Meeting in Cloquet, Dave Esse will remain the head boys hockey coach of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton for at least another year as his contract was continued.
Esse was accused of "bullying" by a group of parents of current and former players, with a formal complaint filed to the board asking for the dismissal of Esse and his staff. Cloquet Athletic Director Tom Lenarz says the allegations were investigated.
In 14 years as the Lumberjacks head coach, Esse has over 220 career wins and has lead the Jacks to State twice.
Esse declined an on-camera interview with Eyewitness Sports for today, but did tell us by email that he's tired, has been catching up on messages and just feels sad talking about the situation.
Meanwhile, Lenarz had this to say last night. "These things have been investigated as best as can be, given the amount of information that was out there and I am satisfied that he (Esse) is our guy going forward."
