A roadway, bridge, culvert and intersection in West Duluth are all slated for construction in the spring of 2014, according to a plan announced by St. Louis County Wednesday night.
Speaking to community members at Clyde Iron Works, county employees said construction will fix flood damage on Highland Street between Skyline Parkway and 57th Avenue West as well as 57th Avenue West between Highland and Cody Street.
The five-legged intersection where Highland and Vinland Streets meet Getchell Road and Skyline Parkway will also see work, and the a culvert over Keene Creek will be replaced with a new bridge.
At Wednesday's meeting, Steve Krasaway, a St. Louis County engineer, said "residents will experience a closed road. Access will be maintained to residents at all times but other traffic will be detoured onto Haines Road because that will be complete by the spring of 2014."
Haines Road was also damaged by flooding. It is under construction now. The work on the Highland Street project will wrap up by the fall of 2014.
