ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Rep. John Kline says he's not interested in running for the U.S. Senate next year.
Kline, a Republican, said Friday he wants to take his name off the table now so it will help others who might run against Democratic Sen. Al Franken.
Kline says his party needs a candidate to emerge soon because Franken has a big head start on money. Franken last week said he had $2 million in the bank to support his bid for a second term.
Kline says he'll seek re-election to his southern Minnesota House seat.
No prominent Republican has yet emerged to challenge Franken.
