Carlton, Minn. - For two Duluth boxers, April 27th, 2013 will be a night they never forget as Al "The Haitian Temptation" Sands and Gary "Stone Cold" Eyer won championship gold. Sands and Eyer fought in the two headline bouts at the "Welcome to the Jungle III: Championship Boxing" event at Black Bear Casino.

Sands (9-1) faced Lucas "The Pitbull" St. Clair (2-2) from Moorhead for the vacant Minnesota Cruiserweight Title. St. Clair had spent time away from boxing competing in mixed martial arts. Sands stopped him in the first round with the official decision being a knockout. All nine of Sands' wins have come by way of knockout.

Eyer (11-2-1) battled Blake "Trouble" Franklin (10-6-2) from Shreveport, Louisiana. This was for the vacant NABU Lightweight Championship. Franklin was looking to add to his collection of titles as he won the World Boxing Foundation United States Welterweight Title last October. Franklin's title was not on the line. This bout went the full eight rounds and Eyer was declared the winner by split decision.
