With the nicer weather, why not go out for a night on the town and do a little swing dancing, while helping out a local high school music program?

Josie Stracek is a member of the Esko High School Jazz Band. She stopped by Good Morning Northland Monday to talk about the band's Swing Into Spring Big Band Dance. It is happening Monday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grandma's Sports Garden in Duluth.

Stracek said she has been part of the Esko Jazz Band since she was in seventh grade. She said she joined it for fun and is now the piano player for the band.

She and others benefit from fundraisers like the Swing Into Spring dance. The money raised goes to the Esko Music Boosters. The group then puts scholarships together for Esko music groups, Stracek said.

Besides the big band tunes, there is also a silent auction and a pizza buffet. Tickets for the Swing Into Spring dance are $10 per person and $30 for a family. For more information on Esko's music programs, visit www.esko.k12.mn.us
