When it comes to jig fishing, some anglers pick their jig color through trial and error. Wisconsin fishing guide Jim Stroede says his method all depends on where he's dropping a line.

"I kind of match the color of the jig to the color of the water that we're fishing," Stroede said. "Here we have some lakes that are pretty clear. In clear water, I fish with more natural colored jigs. In the darker water, from the rivers and the flowages, we go with a brighter color like flourescent orange, or maybe a pink or chartruse color. Something the fish can see visually as you're jigging it through the water."
