Minnesota's Fishing Opener is set for this weekend and it could get interesting finding a spot and many lakes still have ice on them. Fishing guide Charlie Nelson says flexibility will be key.
"This year was extremely odd with the late ice outs and most the lakes north of Duluth are still frozen, but once you get down south near Hinckley, they are opening up. I would highly recommend calling a local bait shop or a resort and they can give you the ice conditions and what is open. If the lake you might be going is not open, they might be able to make a recommendation or have an idea of where you could end up fishing," says Nelson.
