The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that the body recovered from Lake Irving in Bemidji Thursday was that of Matthew Charles Pulis, age 31, according to the Bemidji Police Department. He was a graduate of Virginia high school.
The cause of death has been determined as drowning.
According to police, Pulis was last seen during the early morning hours of Saturday, October 20th, 2012 in the downtown area of Bemidji. At that time, police conducted a 200 block, door to door search of the area between the last point Pulis was seen and his residence.
Authorities said the shoreline of Lake Bemidji and Lake Irving were search on foot, by boat and air. The aerial search included over the 500 acres of low land west of the city.
The police department was assisted in these searches by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota BCA, United States Border Patrol, Bemidji Citizens Patrol, Headwaters Violent Crimes Task Force and the Minnesota State Patrol.
