Two homes were destroyed in a fire that began late Thursday night in Gilbert. Another home had some minor damage, according to police.
The Gilbert Fire Department said it was called out to the 300 block of Wisconsin Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Thursday. They were out fight the blaze until early Friday morning.
Authorities said the two destroyed homes were very close to each other. A couple lived in one home and was able to escape. The fire department said the other home was vacant.
A third structure was also in jeopardy, authorities said. But they were able to save it. The fire department said the home belonged to the couple's parents.
The blaze began on the deck of one home, and appears to be accidental, according to police.
The Fayal and Eveleth Fire Departments assisted with fighting the blaze.
