Minnesota Power says electricity was knocked out to thousands of customers in Duluth on Monday evening.
Officials say trees falling on power lines caused the outages in several neighborhoods in Duluth, including in the Pike Lake area, Kenwood neighborhood, and the Piedmont neighborhoods.
The largest outage, in the Woodland Ave. area, had almost two thousand power outages.
As of 10:30 p.m. Monday night, Minnesota Power's website says that 2,867 customers were without power in that area. Their outage map estimates power to be restored to that area by 11:30 p.m.
