The Duluth police officer accused of assaulting a man at the city's detoxification center last fall will have his case heard in Pine County, according to prosecutors.
In a motion hearing in March, officer Richard Jouppi's attorney asked for a change of venue and said the video has been widely publicized by the media and online. Because of it, he argued Jouppi wouldn't get a fair trial in Duluth.
Jouppi faces misdemeanor charges of assault and disorderly conduct and has pleaded not guilty.
He was charged following the release of surveillance video showing him hitting Anthony Jon Jackson multiple times on September 21, 2012.
The prosecution has said the prosecution said jurors should be individually questioned about their knowledge of the alleged incident before trial.
Jouppi's jury trial is scheduled to begin in November.
