John Cudia has performed on Broadway in famous musicals such as, "Phantom of the Opera" and "Les Miserables." Now he's bringing his talents to the Northland.

Cudia talked about his role in the opera "La Traviata," which is being put on by Lyric Opera of the North. It opens Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Superior High School Performing Arts Center.

Cudia said his character Alfredo is in love with the other main character Violetta. He is already in love her from the first time he saw her. The opera begins a year later after he waited outside of her apartment while she was sick as he tries to get her to fall in love with him.

Cudia said he has done lots of classical voice work and classical concert work on top of acting on Broadway. But this is his first opera.

Performances of "La Traviata" take place Thursday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Both are at Superior High School and feature a live orchestra and chorus.
