A woman was killed and a man injured in an ATV crash Tuesday night in Saxon, Wis., according to the Iron County Sheriff.

The Iron County Sheriff's Department responded to a call of an ATV crash off of Harbor Drive at Saxon Harbor Tuesday at 7 p.m.

According to the sheriff, an ATV failed to negotiate a corner on Harbor Drive and went over a cliff, landing on the beach.

A 42-year-old female was unresponsive upon arrival, according to the sheriff. The deputy and first responders attempted CPR. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene. Her 17-year-old son was with the group and witnessed the crash.

The driver of the ATV, a 44-year-old male, was also injured in the crash. He was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Grand View Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later flown to another facility. His 15-year-old son was also with the group and witnessed the crash.

According to the juveniles interviewed at the hospital, the man had reported that he was having trouble with the ATV brakes just before the crash. The two boys, on separate ATVs, had gone ahead and stopped at the bottom of the hill to wait for their parents. They witnessed the ATV come down the hill and fail to slow down for the sharp corner.

All the parties involved are from the Milwaukee area. Their names have not been released. The crash remains under investigation.
