Looking for some high energy fun that will get your kids thinking at the same time?  Well, local theater troop, The Boogers have just the ticket.  Their show opening July 18 at The Underground is described as a fabulously curious poetical spectacle of fun for absolutely everyone.

Their show, The Boogers present: The Yard Bizarre, is fun for the whole family.  It's anew theatrical experience inspired by children's poetry.  The story follows the three Squibly siblings.  They're hiding some of their most prized possessions before they are sold off at Nana's yard sale.  But even while they're hiding, they love to sing, dance and play while sharing their favorite poems in inventive ways.

"It's all about celebrating poetry," Booger member Rober Lee said on Good Morning Northland Wednesday. "We take educational elements and really celebrate them."

The goal of the show is to get kids thinking and learning without them really realizing it, Lee said.  Each show creates an interactive experience where kids learn non-traditionally.  Every show is based on an educational element from science to history to math to literature.

The three Boogers are all from outside of Minnesota, but met here in Duluth while doing improv.  Jonathan, Mary Higgins, and Robert Lee make up the Boogers.  Between the three of them they are playwrights, directors, dancers, singers, actors, choreographers, designers, imporver-ers and rascals.

"I think it started when someone called me a booger and I said I agree," Lee said. "So, now we're all called The Boogers."

Lee is originally from Louisiana, but says Duluth brought the Boogers together. The formed their group in order to create quality theater that's original and crafted through collaboration.

It's a wonderful show, about 45 minutes in length and it's fun for the whole family "It a great show.  It's high energy, it's got clowning.  It has puppets." Lee said.  "It's even got me looking like an idiot, which is really fun for the kids."

The Boogers present: Yard Bizarre opens July 18 at The Underground, 506 W Michigan St. in downtown Duluth.  It runs July 18-20 and 7 p.m. and July 20 -21 at 1:30 p.m.
