Duluth, Minn. - Hundreds of runners will lace up their sneakers for the 42nd Park Point 5-Miler in Duluth on Friday.
The event is part of the Grandma's Marathon series and will also include youth races at 5:30 pm, a 2-mile walk at 6:15 pm and then, the 5-miler itself at 6:30 pm.
The event is a also fundraiser for the Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma's Marathon Public Relations Director Bob Gustafson says what makes it unique is the out-and-back format.
"Once you do get down to the turnaround point, you are turning around and running back with other runners on the other side of the road next to you and I think that is one of the encouraging parts for the people that are running, they get to see folks running on the other side of the road," says Gustafson.
