The Duluth Heights Youth Tee Ball and Softball Association threw their end-of-the-season party Sunday.
About 60 kids gathered for a barbecue, lots of games, and a trophy ceremony. Director Al Gevara said his Class 1 team took home a second-place trophy, and Class A made it to the second round of the playoffs.
Gevara took over the director role this year when he called to sign his son up to play, and found out there was no director. He said it's important for kids to be able to play in their own area.
"To be able to to bring all the kids together to where they don't have to go in a different community to play their sports, they can come in this community to play their softball and teeball," he said.
