UMD freshmen have a busy week full of workshops, games and a lot of activities designed to prepare them for their first year of college.
Saturday they had a safety seminar that teaches students how to stay healthy and safe during their college years. Students were enjoying the sunshine Saturday afternoon on Griggs Beach.
"It's a lot of volleyball, hanging out in the sun, just really getting used to college," said freshman Adam Burggraff. "It's our first days here, moving away from home."
Freshman Molly Streiff said she was nervous at first, but it's going well.
"Everyone's really helpful, and they have a lot of activities planned for us," she said. "So we always have something to do and people to meet, and it's been really awesome."
Welcome Week continues through Monday.
