Two Twin Ports skaters left this weekend for a trip of a lifetime. They're going on a nine-month tour with Disney on Ice.
Superior's Mickayla Lindberg and Duluth's Cale Bergerson snagged a spot to skate in the show after auditioning last December in Duluth. Both skaters just recently found out they made the cut.
"For Disney on Ice you get to perform in front of many, many children," Bergerson said. "I think that's amazing."
"Disney is the ultimate company in my mind because it's more about acting and being a character," Lindberg said. "You get to choose someone that little kids idolize."
While the pair is excited to set off on the tour that will take them throughout Canada and the Americas, their love for skating started more than a decade ago.
"My favorite part is telling a story through choreography," Lindberg said.
"It combines two of the greatest things in life, sports and art," Bergerson said.
The duo described the audition as difficult, but the hard work paid off when they finally got the spot.
When we asked them what their career goals are, they both had a similar response.
"I just met mine this past Tuesday," Bergerson said. "It was to be a part of Disney on Ice or a big touring show."
"My moment is when I had a live audition with Disney," Lindberg said. "That was my dream since I was four years old."
Both skaters said they are most excited to explore South America while on the tour. They also credit their coaches for their success.
