Attention all wizards and witches: J.K. Rowling's world of magic will return to theaters with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The movie, which Warner Bros is planning to expand into a series, will follow the adventures of Newt Scamander, the fictional author of the Fantastic Beasts textbook used at Hogwarts. Rowling explained in a statement about the project that it is "neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world." One detail Rowling revealed about the story is that it will start in New York, which is exciting news for many American fans.
Rowling wrote Fantastic Beasts as a charity fundraiser, and the book, along with its companion piece Quidditch Through the Ages, have reportedly raised over $25 million for Comic Relief. This will be Rowling's first foray into screenwriting, but we're guessing her screenplays will be just as exciting and magical as her novels.
