The Hermantown City Council voted on Monday night to place a suspension on the sale and indoor use of electronic cigarettes.
The move comes exactly one week after the Duluth City Council passed similar regulations on the popular alternative to tobacco cigarettes, becoming the first city in Minnesota to ban them from bars and restaurants along the way.
According to an attendee of the Hermantown meeting, the council voted 5-0 in favor of placing the temporary restriction on e-cigarettes.
The moratorium will be in effect for at least six months, and went into effect immediately after it was passed Monday.
