Minnesota's only commercial sale, pasture-based egg operation is launching a new product designed to make feeding chickens more affordable.
Locally Laid Egg Company, of Wrenshall, unveiled its new feed Tuesday called Lola's Layer Mix. In a release, the company said it is "the answer to a missing mid-range feed product. Currently there is cheap feed made with 'poultry meal' and 'meat and bone' meal. The other option is high-priced organic feed."
The feed, which the company said is designed for laying hends, will be available in eight locations throughout the Duluth area and on the Iron Range. They are:
Lola's Layer Mix is named after the company's mascot, Lola. The company said it's the same feed used at their farm.
