Duluth, Minn. - (UMDBulldogs) The regular season begins for the UMD women's hockey team on October 4th at home against Connecticut. But, the Bulldogs will lace up their skates on Saturday at Amsoil Arena for an exhibition battle with the Japanese National Team.

UMD has never faced the Japanese National Team. Regardless of the score at the end of regulation, both an overtime session and a shootout will be included.

"I have connections with Olympic organizations around the world and for Japan, it is their Olympic Team and they are getting ready for Sochi, Russia in February, so it is a really good opportunity for them to play a good opponent and it is a great opportunity for us to play an international opponent in an exhibition game just to get warmed up," says UMD Head Coach Shannon Miller.

Game time is 6:07 pm.
