FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) - The federal government partial shutdown may mean some changes for the Minnesota Governor's Deer Opener in November.

The opener will be held in Fergus Falls this year and some of the activities were planned for the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center. With the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service affected by the shutdown, it's not known if agency employees will be back to work by Nov. 8.

Jean Bowman with the Fergus Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau is helping plan the event. Bowman tells KBRF-AM organizers will wait until next Monday to see if the shutdown is resolved. But if the shutdown continues, she says they'll work on "Plan B."

That may involve moving some of the Prairie Wetlands activities over to the adjacent fairgrounds. More volunteers also would be needed.
