What would you like to see done with London Road?
It's one of Duluth's busiest thoroughfares and Thursday night, city officials and members of the Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Interstate Council are planning for its future.
London Road was was originally built as the four-lane, U.S. Highway 61. The I-35 extension changed all that and now, officials say, the strip is ready for a re-design.
Duluth Planning and Construction Services Director Keith Hamre says, "Let's try to start looking at the complete street, which looks at all modes of transportation through there, whether it's bikes, pedestrians or vehicles." He adds, "How do they interact along with the businesses? It's really a change of a business community."
Hamre says reconstruction recommendations will be brought to the full Duluth city council in December and we could start seeing changes implemented next spring.
