The 2013 Garden Fest is an effort by the St. Louis County Extension and University of Minnesota Master Gardeners to educate gardeners on healthy food and gardening in the Northland.
At St. Lawrence Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road in Duluth, participants will be able to attend presentations on gardening techniques. One of those is, "Successful Gardening under Difficult Conditions", which will explain many techniques for overcoming cool weather challenges in the Northland.
There will also be discussions on growing garlic and squash varieties.
A sampling of recipes made with locally grown vegetables will follow the presentations. A recipe book and gardener's guide developed specifically for this program will also be given to participants.
The program starts at 5:30 PM, and the cost is $20.
