SOMERS, Wis. (AP) - The next president of the University of Wisconsin System could make almost $600,000 per year under a proposal approved by a Board of Regents committee.
The business committee approved a plan Thursday that hikes salary ranges for top officials.
The proposal would shift the midrange salary targets for top System officials and campus leaders by an average of 17.5 percent. It would also expand the upper and lower ends of the pay scales to give Regents more flexibility in determining salaries.
The new ranges would mostly apply to new hires, and not existing administrators whose salaries are already in the proposed ranges.
The president's position would pay between $399,000 and $598,500. The outgoing president makes $414,000.
