Olaf Kuhlke stopped by the show on Friday to share some exciting developments with us.

While in the past, UMD has hosted a vampire night, this year they have expanded it to three nights, focusing on three different creatures: vampires, zombies and werewolves.

All three nights are held at the Egyptian Theatre in the Masonic Temple in Duluth, with a social hour at 6:00 PM and the event starting at 7:00. Admission for all events is free.

First up on Friday the 11th is vampire night! There will be a special showing of "Nosferatu", the 1922 silent horror film. The film will be accompanied by UMD music professor Justin Robin on the organ. Following the film, professor Rubin will speak about the movie score. "Nosferatu" is unrated, so you are welcome to bring the whole family, but it is a horror film!

On October 18th, it's zombie night! Three UMD faculty speakers will speak to the idea, history and contemporary representations of zombies. There will also be a silent film showing on thsi night, called "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" at about 9:15 PM. This film will also have accompaniment by professor Rubin.

October 25th is werewolf encounter night! Author Benjamin Percy will read excerpts from his novel "Red Moon", a werewolf tale. There will then be a book signing and sale.

There will be popcorn and soft drinks offered at all of the events. You can find more information at their website and Facebook page.
